Night Time Economy research
Since its inception in 2012, this research project has been instrumental in capturing the scale, diversity, and development trends of the night time economy across local, state, and national levels in Australia. The annual analysis covers all major councils, encompassing 88 Local Government Areas, and provides detailed insights into employment, business operations, and sales within evening and night time sectors, specifically those under the ANZSIC codes for Drink, Entertainment, and Food businesses.
Since 2022, the research has also included localised and unique insights for cities through temporal analysis using data from Google Maps. This data complements the economic analysis by revealing where night time businesses cluster and outlining the typical trading patterns of consumer-facing businesses in each city.
The report below provides National, State, and selected Local outcomes. For further information, please contact the CCCLM Secretariat.
